Cristiano Ronaldo scores the winning goal as Portugal defeat hosts Russia 1-0 in a Confederations Cup group match.

Ronaldo headed Portugal in front just 8 minutes into the match at Moscow's Spartak Stadium. The European champions missed a number of chances in the second half to double their lead. Russia also had a chance to equalize when Georgi Dzhikiya headed narrowly over in stoppage time.

Portugal now lead group A on 4 points while Russia has 3 in the second place. Russia will take on Mexico on Saturday in their last group game and Portugal face New Zealand the same day.
