Firefighters have managed to extinguish a big fire that burnt a green space in a highway in the northwest of the Iranian capital Tehran.

Tehran Fire Department spokesman Jalal Maleki said on Wednesday that firefighters rushed to the scene when a fire was reported at 19:00 local time (1430 GMT) in the green space of Dasht-e-Behesht Avenue in Evin neighborhood in northwestern Tehran.

Maleki added that a large portion of the green space had burnt when the firefighters arrived at the scene.

He noted that the fire had nothing to do with Evin Prison, which is located in the same vicinity, or residential buildings in the area.

There have been no reports about casualties.
