Here is a brief look at Press TV newsroom's headlines from 09:00 GMT to 17:00 GMT, June 15, 2017.

No more survivors’

London officials say they don’t expect to find anyone else alive following a devastating high-rise fire that left at least 12 people dead. London's fire commissioner, Dany Cotton said it would be a miracle if any survivors are found. She also noted the last pockets of flame have already been distinguished and efforts are underway to secure the edges of the building for a fingertip search. Authorities say more victims are expected to be found. While Prime Minister Theresa May has promised a proper investigation into the disaster, survivors slam authorities for not taking the longstanding safety fears at the Grenfell Tower seriously.

Saudi ‘Spying System’

A new report reveals Britain’s biggest arms company has secretly sold mass surveillance technology to Saudi Arabia and a number of other Middle Eastern countries. The report said BAE Systems sold the technology in recent years to Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Qatar, and Algeria, as well as Morocco in North Africa. The technology can be used to spy on a huge number of people’s emails and mobile phones. This has sparked accusations from human rights groups arguing that the technology is being used to silence or jail dissidents. The report also reveals official concerns that the export of the technology could backfire and endanger the security of Britain and its allies. The UK has been under pressure over the past years for its arms deal with a number of regional countries particularly Saudi Arabia which is involved in a deadly war on Yemen.

UK politics

A senior British lawmaker has called for a second election to remove Prime Minister Theresa May from power. John McDonnell from the opposition labour party also urged people to take to the streets in support of his party’s policies to build pressure for another election. Media reports say some left-wing groups plan to hold a mass anti-government protest on July 1. Earlier, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn said there could be another election this year or early next year after the vote on Thursday produced no clear winner. Premier May is desperately trying to reach an agreement with Northern Ireland's Democratic Unionist Party to form a minority government.

‘US Russia interference’

The Russian president has accused the US of having tried for years to influence Russian elections. Vladimir Putin was referring to former FBI chief James Comey's testimony to the US Senate's Intelligence Committee. Putin said Comey gave no evidence to prove that Moscow tried to tilt the 2016 presidential election in Donald Trump’s favor. He said it was very strange that the former FBI chief released details of his conversations with the US president to the media. Trump’s victory in the vote has been marred by allegations of huge support from the Kremlin to sway the election in his favor. The US president rejects the accusations.

Syria gains

Syrian government troops continue to gain more ground against Daesh terrorists in Homs province. The so-called Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says the army has reached within 25 kilometers of the last Daesh-held town of Sukhna. Local media also says the government forces are marching deep into the desert area near Palmyra. The Syrian army has captured the strategic Arak Triangle, which links the towns of Sukhna and Arak to a major oil pumping station. Daesh has lost most areas it captured in Syria to government troops in recent months.

US Anti-Iran policy

Iran has strongly condemned remarks by US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in which he outlined the Trump administration’s policy on Tehran. Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman Bahram Qassemi said Tillerson’s comments are unacceptable, interventionist and a violation of international law. He described Washington’s foreign policy as confused and influenced by improper suggestions. Qassemi noted that Washington has sought to meddle in Iran’s affairs in the past decades through coup and military intervention. On Wednesday, the US secretary of state said the White House is seeking regime change in Iran.
