Constituent Assembly stirs conflict between Venezuela govt., opp

Venezuela’s electoral authority has set a date for the National Constituent Assembly elections. Once formed, the assembly will have the power to rewrite Venezuela’s constitution. The opposition is, however, against the government’s proposal for a new constitution. Opposition groups have accused President Nicolas Maduro of seeking to change electoral laws ahead of the 2018 presidential race.
