Iran crested in Asian cadet taekwondo championships

Young Iranian taekwondo practitioners have finished first at the 2nd Asian Cadet Championships & 2nd Asian Cadet Poomsae Championships in Vietnam.

Young Iranian taekwondo practitioners have featured praiseworthy displays of spinning kicks and fast kicking techniques at the 2nd Asian Cadet Championships & 2nd Asian Cadet Poomsae Championships in Vietnam, and claimed the title at the conclusion of the continental tournament.

On Wednesday, the Iranian girl’s team finished first and stood on the top podium, having secured six gold medals through Haniyeh Hassannejad, Mobina Nematnejad, Maryam Vasilehbar, Ghazal Soltani, Yalda Ranjbar and Fatemeh Rezaeepoor in the female minus 33-kilogram, minus 37-kilogram, minus 44-kilogram, minus 47-kilogram, minus 59-kilogram and over 59-kilogram weight categories respectively.

The Iranian girls won the championship with 93 points. Iran’s Neda Rastad was also named the best women's coach.

Kazakhstan followed in the second place with one gold, one silver and five bronze medals, having notched 41 points.

Chinese Taipei rounded off the podium, having pocketed two gold and one silver medals. The East Asians accumulated 40 points.

Meanwhile, Iranian boys lifted the trophy with 85 points, having snatched six gold, one silver and two bronze medals.

Jordanian boys finished runner-up, having collected one gold, three silver and two bronze medals. They earned 43 points.

Kazakhstan finished third by 31 points, having won two silver and three bronze medals.

The 2nd Asian Cadet Championships & 2nd Asian Cadet Poomsae Championships started in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, on June 5 and finished on June 7, 2017.

Dozens of male and female taekwondo practitioners from various Asian countries, including Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Mongolia, Palestine, the Philippines, South Korea and Uzbekistan, took part in the event.
