Dutch scientists to test superfast transportation technology

The Hyperloop transportation system

Dutch scientists are preparing to test a Hyperloop transportation system that may one day carry passengers at speeds of more than 1,000 kilometers per hour.

The latest technology is set to make the commute between European capitals a matter of minutes. The Hyper-loop has levitating pods powered by electricity and magnetism that hurtle through low-friction pipes. Experts say the Hyper-loop will soon become the 5th mode of transportation, carrying passengers in driverless pods through low-pressure tubes throughout continents. The developers predict that it will offer commuters between Amsterdam and Paris a journey time of 33 minutes.

The creators say the initial tests are to be launched in the end of 2017, with the first Hyper-loop line to be up and running by 2019.
