Randy Short, with the Black Autonomy Network Community Organization from Washington, says he doubts Pope Francis’ agreement to apologize for the role of the Catholic Church in Canada’s school system, where indigenous children were abused for decades.

If the Pope makes an apology over churches’ wrongdoings, “It will open up more dialogue because the issues of race, slavery, genocide of indigenous black and brown people in America and in Africa ... has not been addressed by this pope,” Short told Press TV on Tuesday.
