Roma legend Franchesco Totti has hung up his boots after 25 years with the club, as his side secured a Champions League group stage slot, with a 3-2 home Win over Genoa.
On Sunday, Pietro Pellegri silenced the home crowd after just 3 minutes, but Edin Dzeko struck back to level the score a few minutes later to make it 1-all at the interval.
The hosts managed to take the lead 15 minutes from time through Daniele De Rossi, but Darko Lazovic briefly restored parity before Diego Perotti scored in the 90th minute to spark wild scenes, and ensure the 2nd spot in the Italian League.
Totti was Introduced in the 54th minute for his 786th appearance in what had been dubbed as ‘Totti Day’ by Italian media. The one-club man won the FIFA 2006 World Cup with Italy, and claimed 1 Serie A, and 2 Coppa Italia titles with Roma.
The 41-year-old Italian is expected to become a director at Roma, where he made his debut for the club at the age of 16, back in March 1993.
