The UK has plummeted from 11th to 156th in a global ranking on children’s rights. The Kids Rights Index 2017 has issued a report based on data collected from UNICEF and UN Committee on the Rights of the Child. The report accuses Britain of employing ‘inadequate’ provision for children’s rights protection and raises serious concerns about structural discrimination against Muslim children as well as gypsy and refugee children. Amina Taylor assesses the UK’s poor performance in this report from London.
