Real Madrid have reached the final of the UEFA Champions League and with a 4-2 aggregate victory over city rivals Atletico Madrid, despite losing their semifinal second leg game 2-1.
Los Blancos, who entered the Wednesday encounter with a 3-nil first leg victory, conceded an early goal at the Vicente Calderon when Saul Niguez thumped in a header after just 12 minutes.
Atletico threatened to produce another memorable comeback in this season's tournament when they won a penalty about 4 minutes later. Antoine Griezmann stepped up and fired the ball into the back of the net to make it 2-nil and give his side the boost they needed.
But, a moment of brilliance from Karim Benzema unlocked Atletico’s defense and allowed Isco to notch a crucial away goal just before the break which killed off all hopes for the home fans and sealed the 4-2 aggregate win for Real. The final is located in Cardiff on June the 3rd with Los Blancos taking on Italian giants Juventus for the top European Club Title.
