Relative calm has been established across Syria following an agreement to set up a de-escalation zone in the war-torn Arab country.
The deal was signed during the fourth round of Syria peace talks in the Kazakh capital, Astana on Thursday, which were co-sponsored by Russia, Turkey and Iran.
Under the deal, four de-escalation zones would be established across Syria for a period of six months which could be extended.
It has been agreed that weaponry and air strikes would not be used in those zones in order to create conditions for humanitarian access.
The initiative comes as part of efforts to give an end to more than 6 years of violence in Syria, a deadly war which has already killed hundreds of thousands, displacing millions more.
