US biding farewell to human rights?

Those who call the US hypocritical would be grateful to US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson for exposing what they see as Washington’s true face regarding human rights and democracy.

Tillerson last week drew fire from rights advocates when he said US national security and interests come first when it comes to actual policies. Addressing his diplomats, Tillerson said: Quote-we really have to understand, in each country or each region of the world that we’re dealing with, what are our national security interests, what are our economic prosperity interests, and then as we can advocate and advance our values. Our values around freedom, human dignity, the way people are treated—those are our values. Those are not our policies-unquote.
