The Decline of the US
At a time when new world powers are beginning to emerge in the global arena, the EU has taken its first step in many years to challenge the status quo of the world order as shaped by US hegemony.
The EU’s top diplomat, Federica Mogherini, has been quoted as saying that the time for change has come, and that the EU as a single entity can replace the US in molding international affairs. She says the US may be losing leadership in certain global issue.
Mogherini has criticized the unpredictable nature of US foreign policy under the incumbent, President Donald Trump, and says that the EU can take over as the main international partner of Russia, China, and India.
