Thousands of Mexicans have flocked to the municipality of ‘Otumba’ to celebrate the 52nd anniversary of a famous donkey fair.

Donkey owners paraded their beasts dressed in extravagant costumes from a Police donkey to donkeys dressed up like famous people.

The festival organizers describe the event as a "small tribute" to the donkey, an animal that is a traditional symbol of the Mexican community. In this festival, donkeys also raced for prizes, the first winning 600 dollars, the second 400 and the third 200 dollars.
