Donald Trump’s victory in the US 2016 presidential election was, of course, good news for the Republican Party but it also came with a lot of implications, including one, for which the GOPers had waited for nearly a year.

After the death of US Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia  in February 2016, Republicans in control of US Congress refused to give President Obama’s nominee even a hearing, hoping that the next president would be a Republican, a wish that came true with Trump’s victory and finally made Neil Gorsuch fill the vacant seat. But why does this matter? And how will it influence the future of the country? In this episode of We the People, all you need to know about Gorsuch and his seat in the highest federal court of the United States. Was it stolen by the Republicans as Democrats say, just to give the conservatives the 5-4 lead back?

In the second part of the show, we’ll also take a closer look at what President Trump and the rest of climate skeptic Republicans have in store for the planet’s environment as well as how the new administration’s policies could shape the future of science.
