China's sky lit up by Lyrid meteor shower

The annual Lyrid meteor shower has lit up the night sky over a mountainous area in northeast China.

The Lyrid Meteor Show is one of seven major sky events, which occurs in late April, usually between 19 and 23 every year.

That’s when the Earth passes through the dusty tail of Comet Thatcher. Meteor showers happen when dust and other particles break off from an astronomical body and enter Earth’s atmosphere on similar courses.
