Iran trounces Syria 84-42 in WABA Junior Championship 2017

Iran's national junior basketball team has got to a sound start at the 7th edition of the West Asia Basketball Association (WABA) Junior Championship, defeating the Syrian squad in its opening match.

On Wednesday evening, the Iranian team proved its dominance throughout the game, which was played at the Azadi Sports Complex in western Tehran, and pulled off a deserved 84-42 win against the opposite side.

Earlier in the day, Lebanon had routed Iraq 68-56 in the curtain raiser.

The 7th edition of WABA Junior Championship started in Tehran, the Islamic Republic of Iran, on April 19, and will run through April 23, 2017.

The tournament has brought together national junior basketball teams from Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon and Syria.
