Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel has clinched a victory at the Bahrain Grand Prix while taking the overall lead in the title race.

The 4-time world champion produced a commanding performance on Sunday and took the checkered flag some 7 seconds ahead of Lewis Hamilton to claim his second win this season.

The triumph also gave Vettel a 7-point lead over Mercedes driver Hamilton in the championship.

Hamilton was made to chase Vettel all the way to the end after the Brit was penalized 5 seconds for driving slowly on pit-entry to hold up Red Bull's Daniel Ricciardo.

The other Mercedes driver Valtteri Bottas finished 3rd as Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen ended up in 4th.
