World's oldest person dies at age 117

The last known survivor of the 19th century and the world’s oldest person has died at 117.

Emma Morano who lived in northern Italy was born on November 29th, 1899. Her life spanned three centuries during which she witnessed two World Wars and more than 90 Italian governments.

Morano who celebrated her last birthday surrounded by friends, neighbors and her doctor, had the Guinness World Record for the oldest living person to her name. Emma’s diet was limited to two raw eggs and a few cookies per day during her last years and she believed that was the secret behind her longevity.

Now, the oldest living person recorded is a man named Yisrael Kristal who’s currently 113 and healthy.
