US Clay Court Championship: Escobedo stuns Isner
Unseeded Ernesto Escobedo beat John Isner in three sets on Friday to reach the semifinals of the US Men's Clay Court Championship.
Escobedo advanced to his first career semifinal after beating American opponent Isner. The 20-year-old came through 7-6, 6-7, 7-6 against big server Isner, who surrendered despite an impressive 34 aces.
Escobedo rose to number 91 in the world rankings after he won on Friday. He’s now waiting for the winner of the second quarterfinal between Thomaz Bellucci and Sam Querrey.
