Fernando Alonso, has confirmed that he will not be competing for McLaren at the race which puts retired British driver Jenson Button back in the cockpit once again!

Alonso will miss the race on May the 28th because he wants to take part in this year’s Indianapolis 500.

It appears that the American race takes place on the same day as the Monaco Grand Prix. Although 37-year-old Button retired at the end of last season, he is taking Alonso's seat for this single race.

McLaren have endured a tough start to the season with no points from 2 races. But, they believe the Monaco track could suit their brand new car better and allows drivers to stand out.
