The Iranian men’s national futsal team has continued its fine performance at the fifth edition of International Sports Federation for Persons with Intellectual Disability (INAS) World Futsal Championships in Portugal, and progressed to the next level of the tournament.

On Wednesday, the Iranian team led the preliminary round game played at Vila Nova de Gaia in the central Portuguese city of Viseu 3-2 until the dying moments of the game.

Only 17 seconds from time, the hosts scored from the spot to hold Persians to a three-all draw after the referee's controversial decision to award the Portuguese team a penalty.

The result came a day after the Iranian futsal team routed South Africa 6-3.

The Iranian sportsmen had downed Argentina 6-3 in their opening match on Monday.

The Iranian men’s national futsal team comprises Mohammad Reza Takhsha, Ali Makhtout, Behzad Amani, Mohsen Dolati, Nosrat Kasheffar, Qodrat Kasheffar, Ali Asghar Hosseinzadeh, Mehdi Molayari, Hamid Reza Saleh, Mohsen Saboktakin, Qader Al-e-Nasser and Abdulali Barihi.

The fifth edition of INAS World Futsal Championships started in Viseu, Portugal, on April 8, and will finish on April 15, 2017.
