Cuban police have put the brakes on a daring attempt to break the Guinness world record for the tallest bike ride.
Cyclist Felix Guirola’s plan failed to get off the ground due to not having the necessary permission. The cancellation came despite the presence of a sizable number of supportive audience and even Guinness officials.
The original plan was for Guirola to ride his 7.5-meter-tall bike for 100 meters before Cuba’s National Capitol Building. The performance would have broken the current tall bike record of 6.15 meters.
Guinness officials were as disappointed as the onlookers when the show was cancelled but they hope that the biker can soon break the record in a separate attempt whether in his home country or elsewhere.
