Iran has started the registration of volunteers seeking to contest for the country’s 12th presidential election.

The registration of volunteers from across the country started on Tuesday at the country’s Election Office, which is located within the Interior Ministry’s premises in Tehran, and will last for the next five days.

All hopefuls will be vetted by the Guardian Council, which will announce the list of qualified candidates later in April.

The election is scheduled for May 19.
