NBA: Trail Blazers beat Lakers 97-81

The visiting Portland Trail Blazers have registered a 97-81 victory over the Los Angeles Lakers at the Staples Center.

The Blazers started the match as the better side on Sunday and went ahead 22-17 by the end of the first period.

The visitors then continued their fine play in the second frame and won it 18-15 to stretch their advantage to eight points at the intermission.

Portland were on fire in the third period and went on to win the match 97-81 to pull even with the Denver Nuggets in the race for the final playoff spot in the Western Conference.
