The United States has reiterated that Kurdish forces will be part of the operation to liberate the Syrian city of Raqqah from Daesh. This comes as a blow to Turkey which insists that it is not planning to participate in the operations which also involve the YPG Kurdish fighters. Meanwhile, the Pentagon has expressed its willingness to send more troops to northern Syria.
