French side Monaco have booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the competition on the away-goals rule, after defeating Manchester City 3-1 at the Louis II stadium, in the second leg match, finishing 6-6 on aggregate.

The Sky Blues, who entered Wednesday’s encounter with a 5-3 first leg victory, conceded an early goal in France, when Kylian Mbappe fired a low shot between the legs of the keeper from close range in the 8th minute to make it 5-4 on aggregate.

The hosts then scored their second of the match through Fabinho. Benjamin Mendy got into plenty of space down the left and then fired a perfect, low cross into the center of the box, where Fabinho was on hand to pounce the ball past the helpless keeper to make it 5-5 on aggregate in the 29th minute.

However, Leroy Sane pulled a goal back for the City Blues after the break, to put them back on track. But the visitor's joy was short-lived as Tiemoue Bakayoko rose high to bullet a header into the bottom corner, to restore the home side’s two-goal cushion.

And from then on Monaco held firm to win the match 3-1, and progress into the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.
