Bayern Munich star Xabi Alonso, who has announced his plans to retire from professional football at the end of the season on Thursday, said the choice was very hard for him to make after 17 years of being a professional player.
Alonso joined Bayern back in 2014 and won Bundesliga titles in his first 2 seasons with the club as well as last season's DFB Pokal.
The 35 year-old also enjoyed great success with Spain, winning a World Cup and two European Championships while playing for his national team, for whom he won 114 caps and scored 16 goals.
