The Amateur Federation of Workers' Sport of the Islamic Republic of Iran (AFWSIRI) is set to host the first edition of the World Worker’s Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships sometime next year.

Director of Worker’s Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Association at the AFWSIRI, Omid Jebeli, said Iran put forward a bid to host the event on the account that bodybuilding will be included in World Workers’ Championships from 2019 onward.

“Given the great longing for bodybuilding across Iran and among the country’s workers, my association decided to communicate with relevant bodies in order to internationalizate the sport at World Workers’ Championships,” Jebeli said.

He added, “During a recent meeting with President of the International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness (IFBB), Rafael Santonja, and President of the International Labor and Amateur Sports Confederation (CSIT), Bruno Molea, in Italy, Iranian sports officials put forward their plan and comprehensive explanation to globalize bodybuilding.”

Jebeli further noted that IFBB and CSIT authorities have decided to sit together in Switzerland in near future, and see how bodybuilding could be well included in the program of the World Workers’ Championships.
