Real Madrid have made sure they will not lose ground in the title race by bagging the full 3 points following a 2-0 win over visiting Espanyol.

Some 30 minutes into the match, Real Madrid finally broke the visitors’ resistance as Alvaro Morata headed home a floated cross from Isco to make it a-nil.

And Gareth Bale, making his return to action after an injury layoff, sealed the victory in the 83rd minute via his 8th goal of the season, shortly after coming on as a substitute.

Meanwhile, Catalan side Barcelona are set to take on Leganes at Camp Nou in the wake of their disappointing Champions League defeat at the hands of Paris Saint Germain on Tuesday. The defeat, as manager Luis Enrique say, might affect Barca’s performance in the upcoming La Liga tie.

Barcelona are hoping to close the gap on leaders Real Madrid in the Spanish title race and in order to do that, they need to win their upcoming La Liga matches. That’s why they need to recover from Tuesday’s 4-nil defeat as soon as possible.
