Poets from around the world have gathered in Nicaragua to take part in the 2017 Granada International Poetry Festival.

The 13th edition of the event opened in Granada city with theatrical and harmonic expressions, renouncing hate and violence.

Performers paraded down the city’s historical streets, dressed up in traditional attire or as folklore characters. But shining brighter than the outfits was the presence of some 140 poets from Asia, Europe, Africa and the Americas.

Poetry recitals, book fairs, arts expositions and handicraft workshops were also held to enrich the culturally-nurturing atmosphere of the festival. Most events were in tune with messages of universal unification and peace.
