The Islamic Republic of Iran Volleyball Federation (IRIVF) has named Argentine volleyball coach Juan Manuel Cichello as the head coach of Iran men's national under-23 volleyball team.

IRIVF President Mohammad Reza Davarzani decided to appoint Cichello to the post on Monday evening, having carefully studied preparation programs developed by the 41-year-old for the squad.

The Iran men's national under-23 volleyball team is preparing for the second edition of Asian Men U23 Volleyball Championship, which is scheduled to be held between May 2 and 10 in the northwestern Iranian city of Ardabil.

Asian U23 Volleyball Championship is a sport competition for national teams under 23 years, currently held biannually and organized by the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC).

Iran blanked South Korea 3-0 in the title match of the previous edition in the Myanmar capital city of Naypyidaw, and finished as the champion.

Iran under-23 volleyball team is also getting ready for the 2017 FIVB Volleyball Men's U23 World Championship. The tournament will be held from August 18 to 26 in the Egyptian capital city of Cairo.
