Moscow’s State Historical Museum has marked its 145th anniversary with a huge delicious dessert.
The dessert is made up of 145 cakes glazed with edible 23-karat gold. A Latvian pastry chef has created the cake using a recipe from a Paris cook-book dating all the way back to 1752.
The masterpiece, which includes tiny golden sculptures of double-headed eagles that make the Russian coat of arms, weighs a total of 500 kilograms. To celebrate the occasion, all museum visitors receive half-price tickets and a chance to try a piece of the cake.
