In the National Hockey League, the Columbus Blue Jackets have posted a 2-1 win over the visiting Detroit Red Wings at the Nationwide Arena.

Columbus opened the scoring in the first quarter as Brandon Dubinsky stole the puck inside the blue line and took a long shot that Boone Jenner was able to deflect past the goaltender.

But the visitors came back and tied it up in the same frame on Thomas Vanek’s power play goal.

The Blue Jackets, however, snatched back their advantage in the second period through Cam Atkinson who got his team-leading 27th goal as Detroit dropped their third straight game and lost to Columbus for the second time in four days.
