Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani says Russian warplanes are using the Islamic Republic’s airspace for anti-terror operations in Syria. He added that Tehran would “have any cooperation with Moscow on Syria” noting that Iran would grant necessary permission to Russian planes to use its airspace.

Iran and Russia are Syria’s main allies and have been assisting the government in Damascus in its fight against foreign-backed terrorist groups, including Daesh.

Russia has been conducting airstrikes against terrorist groups in Syria at the Syrian government’s request since September 30, 2015, while Iran has been providing advisory assistance to the Syrian government.

Scott Bennett, former US army psychological warfare officer believes allowing Russian planes to fly over Iran’s airspace is a “brilliant move”, adding that this is exactly what is needed in the fight against Takfiri terrorists.

“This is an information war, this is a psychological war, so Iran is showing the world that Iran stands with Russia, Russia stands with Iran in the fight against terror and by allowing planes to fly of course it is like a parade, it is like a great demonstration of mutual military alliance and working together,” the analyst told Press TV in an interview on Saturday.

He also noted Iran needs to amplify the message behind this intelligent move in order to show it works with the world in the fight against terrorism.

Bennett further argued this move will make the United States realize that no attack on Iran should ever happen because Russia will be standing with it.

He also emphasized the American people elected Donald Trump to have peace in the Middle East and not to engage in wars against Russia, Syria and Iran.

That is why people did not vote for former US Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton because they were fearful, he added.

“So Donald Trump will not attack Russia, he would not attack Iran if he sees such an alliance gathering because he would know it would be an unwinnable situation and it would be going against his very core ideas that he stood on,” he stated.

According to the analyst, Iran and Russia should publicize to the world that they share a common value of peace and stability.
