President Donald Trump’s nominee for a US Supreme Court vacancy, Neil Gorsuch, has called his attitude towards judges "demoralizing" and "disheartening."

Trump ripped a "so-called judge" on Twitter on Saturday over a ruling to halt the president’s Muslim ban, asserting that the judge’s move is "ridiculous and will be overturned."

The tweet has apparently caused concerns for Gorsuch, Trump’s own pick for the Supreme Court.

Gorsuch made the remarks in a meeting with Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal, who initially spoke about the comments to reporters.

Gorsuch’s spokesman, Ron Bonjean, later confirmed that he had expressed concerns over the matter.

“The opinion of this so-called judge, which essentially takes law-enforcement away from our country, is ridiculous and will be overturned,” the president tweeted Saturday in reaction to Federal Judge James Robart’s halt on his executive order.

The New York billionaire issued the order to impose a 90-day entry ban on citizens from Iran, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Libya and Somalia, block refugees from Syria indefinitely, and suspend all refugee admissions for 120 days.

The former reality TV star, who has so far defended his order, also attacked the panel of appeals judges considering his challenge to Robart's decision.

“I don’t want to call a court biased, so I won’t call it biased,” Trump said at a gathering of the Major Cities Chiefs Association in Washington on Wednesday. “Courts seem to be so political and it would be so great for our justice system if they could read a statement and do what’s right.”
