Fish spa treatment becomes popular in Denmark

An age-old Turkish treatment of fish spa.

Residents in the Danish capital are experiencing an age-old Turkish treatment of fish spa.

The practice includes little ‘Garra Rufa fish’ to nibble away dead skin from the clients' feet. These fish, also known as 'Doctor Fish', don't have teeth and instead slowly suck the customers' feet.

Doctors say aside from the fun factor; fish pedicures may also be a useful treatment for those suffering of certain skin conditions such as eczema. A 20-minute fish pedicure session in Denmark costs about 20 dollars.

For hygiene reasons, people with foot warts, fungus or ulcers, or infectious diseases are not allowed to undergo the therapy.
