In the NHL, the Montreal Canadiens have defeated the visiting New York Rangers 5-4 at the Bell Centre.

Locked at 3-all in the third frame, Max Pacioretty scored his 20th goal of the season to make it 4-3 for the hosts and Paul Byron added Montreal’s 5th when he backhanded the puck in front and saw it go in off Adam Clendening 's stick.

New York, however, got one back through Mats Zuccarello but the Canadiens held on to win 5-4 for their fifth victory in their last seven games.
