Southampton beat Liverpool 1-0 in their EFL Cup semi-final first leg.

Liverpool have suffered a shocking 1-nil defeat at the hands of Southampton in their EFL Cup semi-final first leg at St. Mary's Stadium.

The Merseyside Reds, who had demolished the hosts 6-1 in the quarter-finals of this competition last season, conceded an early goal on Wednesday when Nathan Redmond fired a low shot into the back of the net to make it 1-nil for his side in the 20th minute.

And from then, Southampton held firm on their advantage and didn’t allow Liverpool to equalize. The second leg takes place at Anfield in 2 weeks’ time.
