Astronauts to take food from French chefs to ISS

Fancy French food for astronauts on the International Space Station.

French chefs have decided to prepare special meals to help astronauts feel more at home on the International Space Station (ISS).

Spacemen usually eat freeze-dried food that provides all their nutritional needs. But on special occasions, like a birthday, they will be served with a special meal that reminds them of home.

Food for astronauts should contain no bacteria to avoid diseases, the least amount of liquid possible and no crumbs, to avoid their incrustation in machines on the ISS.

French astronauts can make their choice from the list of some 30 dishes provided by famous chefs adapted after feedback from returning astronauts.
