Visitor from all over the world have flocked to the northeastern China to attend the 33rd Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival.

The annual festival showcases the region's tradition of snow and ice carvings as well as ice swimming.

Around 15,000,000 people are expected to visit the city of Harbin over the next 2 months to see the world famous ice sculptures.

Harbin began working on the carvings, many of which are the size of 2 to 3 story buildings, in mid-December.

Sculptures are mostly built using ice from a nearby river.

Harbin is located on the edge of Siberia, and is one of China's coldest places.

Temperatures in winter can drop to minus 35 degrees Celsius in the city.
