In the 2nd round of the Brisbane International Tennis Tournament in Australia, Kei Nishikori, Jordan Thompson and Stan Wawrinka have all made it through to the quarterfinals of the competition on Wednesday.
Nishikori made a poor start to the match and lost the first 6-4 to American qualifier Jared Donaldson. But the Japanese broke early in the 2nd set, and won it 6-4. The world No.5 finally wrapped up the 3rd set to Win 4-6, 6-4, 6-3.
Nishikori will next face 22-year-old Jordan Thompson who defeated Spain’s David Ferrer in another 2nd round contest. The Australian beat the Spaniard 4-6, 7-5, 7-5 in 2 hours and 40 minutes to reach the Quarterfinals.
The US Open Champion Stan Wawrinka is also through to the last 8 after beating Viktor Troicki 7-6, 6-4. The Spaniard will next face Kyle Edmund of Britain.
