This file photo taken on December 21, 2016 shows US President-elect Donald Trump speaking to reporters at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida.

As 2016 draws to a close, this year definitely had its economic ups and downs, more downs than ups unfortunately.

We started this year with the economy deteriorating and finished it with the second interest rate increase in ten years. Surely, 2 events rocked the year: one UK's Brexit, and the other, Trump winning the US presidential elections, just 2 of the stories that we covered in this special edition of 2016: Year in Review.

Also, you can call him many things that he was, but for many, the promise of his slogan Yes We Can fell short, by a lot, especially when it comes to a person who won the Nobel Peace Prize. But the US President Obama did inherit a lot when he came to power, but his most prized asset that he'll be remembered for: Iran's nuclear deal, even though the US has not lived up to its expectations.
