World’s fattest man plans to reduce weight

Juan Pedro Franco, of Aguascalientes, Mexico, weighs about 500 kilogram and has been removed from his home for the first time in six years.

The world’s fattest man has decided to undergo surgery in order to reduce his weight.

The 500 kilogram Mexican man is going to have a gastric bypass to decrease his weight by half. Doctors say 32-year-old Juan Pedro suffers from a high blood pressure, diabetes, and chronic lung obstruction.

It has been almost six years that he has been confined to bed. In the first step, surgeons will remove over three-quarters of the patient's stomach.

Then his remaining stomach will be partially blocked, helping to give a feeling of fullness. His medical team believes he has a good chance of losing half of his weight by about six months after the first surgery.
