Grape syrup; A taste of Persia

Grape syrup; A taste of Persia

These are some of the stories covered in this episode of IRAN program:

Iranian Grape Syrup:

In recent years, we have been hearing a lot about the downside of white sugar. Doctors and nutritionists tell us to cut back on sugar and use healthy, natural sweeteners as alternatives. Iranians must have known that from a very very long time ago, because fruit pastes and extracts have been a part of our diet since we can remember. Plus, there is such great bounty of some heavenly fruit in Iran that we just had to come up with a way to make use of them.

Historical sites of Yazd:

Yazd, in central Iran is one of the cradles of ancient civilization. In Yazd, the city of Meybod which by the way is enlisted as a world heritage site by UNESCO, is a historical city, especially famous for its Persian city structure. In this episode, Shahriar Azimi shows us the Meybodis had exuberant taste for building homes not just for themselves, but for animals as well.

Iranian Beverages:

In Iran, our favorite beverage is hot tea. But Gisoo Misha Ahmadi will show you that’s just one of our favorites.
