Iran’s Aghaei collects bronze in Nepal International Series 2016

Iranian female badminton player Soraya Aghaei Hajiagha has presented an acceptable display at the Nepal International Badminton Series 2016, collecting a bronze medal at the sporting event.

On Friday, the 20-year-old Iranian shuttler lost her singles quarter-final match to her Vietnamese opponent Nguyen Thuy Linh at the National Sports Council in Kathmandu, and finished third.

Earlier, Aghaei defeated Bashir Palwasha, a 29-year-old contestant from Pakistan 2-0, and booked a berth in the semi-final round.

The Nepal International Badminton Series 2016 opened in Kathmandu on December 13, and wrapped up on December 17, 2016.

Top badminton players from various Asian countries, including Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Maldives, Nepal and Vietnam, competed for pride and prestige in the tournament.
