Israel lying about stabbing attacks by Palestinians: Activist

The Israeli regime’s military forces have fatally shot a Palestinian man at the main checkpoint between the northern part of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem al-Quds. The regime has alleged that the 40-year-old man attempted to carry out a stabbing attack at the Qalandiya checkpoint on Tuesday morning, while witnesses have dismissed the accusation, saying there is no proof that Jihad al-Qaddoumi was carrying any knife.

Jamal Juma, head of ‘Stop the Wall’ campaign, told Press TV’s Top 5 that the Israeli regime is lying about stabbing attack to justify its crimes against the Palestinian civilians.

“It seems that an old man was trying to cross the checkpoint and they (Israeli forces) just shot him dead,” while “nobody mentioned that he had a knife or approached a soldier for any attack,” Juma noted.

“It is not the first time” that the Israeli forces are killing Palestinians who are trying to cross the Israeli-installed checkpoints, he added.

The activist went on to say, “This is a crime and part of the continuous crimes that they (Israelis) are committing against Palestinians since October 2015, which is like killing the people for just being suspicious.”

He stated that the Israeli military forces “do not care about the international law because they are ready to kill Palestinians and they are doing it.”

Criticizing the global silence about the Israeli atrocities against Palestinians, he said, “It is a shame” that “the international community does not say any word” in response to crimes committed by the Israeli regime, which take place on a daily basis.

He also called on the Palestinian people, Muslim nations and Islamic entities to adopt a proper strategy in order to demand for implementation of the international law and punishment of the Israeli regime.

According to Juma, the regime continues its anti-Palestinian acts because it feels that it has all-out support by the United States, adding that the upcoming American administration seems to adopt more pro-Israel policies, which are considered as a green light to the regime to go ahead with anti-Palestinian crimes.

The occupied lands of Palestine have been the scene of intensified tensions ever since the Israeli regime imposed restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshipers into the al-Aqsa Mosque compound in August 2015. Israeli forces have killed over 260 Palestinian civilians since October 2015.
