Iranian cycling club Pishgaman Kavir Yazd has proven its physical and technical superiority at Tour of Fuzhou 2016 in China, and managed to clinch the title of the international sports event.

On Sunday, professional road bicycle racers for the Yazd-based outfit could cover all five stages of the tournament, having ridden the total length of 629 kilometers. They accomplished the arduous task with the total time of 44:34.22, the Cycling Federation of the Islamic Republic of Iran website reported.

They were followed by compatriots from The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) Continental cycling team Shahrdari Tabriz, who finished the race in the second place and were 4.32 minutes behind.

Parkhotel Valkenburg cyclists claimed the third place, and only seven minutes and 40 seconds separated them from their Pishgaman counterparts.

Iranian cyclist Rahim Emami stood on top of the overall podium and received the golden jersey. Iran’s Arvin Mo'azzami and Dutch Peter Schulting finished second and third respectively.

Additionally, Emami got the better of his Estonian and Chinese rivals in the mountain racing section.

“This year, it was more difficult than last year. There were more stages [five instead of three] and much harder stages too. My team was also better than last year’s. It’s a younger team and growing nicely. Last year, my advantage was only one second before the final stage. I was more relaxed today, thanks to a bigger advantage. Everything has been perfect this year as a result of superb organization,” the Iranian cyclist said.

Tour of Fuzhou 2016 started in China on November 16, and finished on November 20.
