Lewis Hamilton top in Brazilian Grand Prix second practice

Lewis Hamilton logged the fastest time ahead of Mercedes teammate and championship leader Nico Rosberg in both practice sessions for the Brazilian Grand Prix.

Hamilton, who boosted his claim for a third successive drivers' championship title by winning the last two races in the USA and Mexico , followed a one minute, 11.895 seconds fastest lap in first practice with a leading time of 1 minute and 12.271 seconds on Friday.

Max Verstappen finished second fastest ahead of Rosberg in the first session, but Rosberg improved in the second, finishing only three hundredths of a second slower than Hamilton, with a time of one minute, 12.301 seconds. The two Williams cars Valtteri Bottas and Felipe Massa surprisingly finished third and fourth in the second session.

The two Red Bull drivers were next on the time sheets , Daniel Ricciardo outperforming Verstappen at the second opportunity ,while Ferrari drivers Sebastian Vettel and Kimi Raikkonen finished in seventh and eighth place respectively.

Former champion Fernando Alonso was forced to leave the track during the second practice session, with an energy recovery problem.
