Indian scientist turns plastic waste into fuel

A new technology has been developed by an Indian scientist to convert plastic waste into liquid fuel.

Millions of tons of plastic garbage pollute our world on a daily basis. What if we could turn them into fuel instead? That’s exactly what an Indian scientist is doing.

Sreejith Veettil Sreedharan has developed new technology to convert plastic waste into cheap liquid fuel. The technique involves breaking down plastic molecular levels to turn the object into readily usable fuel similar to diesel.

The creator says using the technology, nearly nine liters of liquid fuel can be extracted out of one kilogram of plastic waste and can be even further refined if needed. What’s more, fuel produced from plastic trash is non-polluting.

Plastic waste is a major health and environmental hazard in India. According to the Indian Environment Ministry, more than 15,000 tonnes of plastic waste is generated in the country every day, of which 6,000 tonnes are never collected.

However, Sreejith is optimistic about the success of his project and the potential to create an Eco-friendly supply of fuel for people.
